Chad, DJ Groove, was born in the city of Torrance in southern California but was raised in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. Being raised by a Musician father, Groove was surrounded by all types of music and Inherited a love for it at an early age. At the age of 13, Groove returned to California to begin high school and thus was the start of his promising career as a dj. Groove’s first inspiration came from DJ Melo-D, a dj that worked on-air at a popular southern California radio station, 92.3 The Beat. Groove was impressed with Melo-D’s skills in scratching, remixing, and doubling songs. While learning the art of deejaying, Groove was fortunate enough to have friends who also deejayed. Through them, Groove was introduced to some key players in the game, such as DJ Dino Bravo, DJ Icy Ice, DJ Echo and Dave Gonzalez whom he was able to watch and learn from. It did not take long for Groove to catch on to the skill of deejaying. In fact, deejaying came naturally to Groove. Within his second year of learning, Groove had mastered the skills of scratching, doing doubles and reading a crowd. After his skills were mastered, Groove started off his career as a battle dj, competing against other talented deejays, showcasing his skills in front of large crowds. In 2001, Groove won The Guitar Center South Bay Regional DJ Competition. From there, Groove took his turntablism and started deejaying clubs and parties. From that point on, Groove’s deejaying gigs started to pile up. Because Groove was constantly getting booked to deejay, he realized that this wasn’t just a hobby for him. Making good money at the age of 15, Groove made the decision to make deejaying his career.

For 15 years, Groove has made a name for himself in the deejaying world. He’s deejayed at multiple club venues, such as The House of Blues, Les Deux, Geisha House, and The Show Box in Seattle, WA, just to name a few. Groove has also deejayed for and toured with hip hop’s legendary group, The Pharcyde. In addition, Groove, along with close friend and fellow dj, Tim aka DJ Turbulence, started a deejaying group called Crowd Control. The concept of Crowd Control consists of a club set with a 2 x 4 set: 2 deejays, 4 turntables doing a live set in a club-like atmosphere incorporating turntablism and party rocking with an emcee. Crowd Control’s popularity quickly rose, and the group took the show to the road and toured up and down the west coast. Crowd Control eventually became a respected name in the deejaying community
and has since evolved into an extend deejaying group with 5 more members: DJ Delvin, DJ Mystere, DJ Edski, John Magic and DJ Zeb. Groove currently deejays for The Dolce Group, which owns many popular club venues throughout southern California.
